Motivation: The reason or reasons someone thinks / behaves in a certain way.
How many times have you heard someone say, "I am just not motivated to..." Whether that's get up in the morning, go to work, clean the house, do their HW, motivation is something that at one point or another we all have lacked. The real question is why do we lack it, and how do we stay motivated.
When motivation is lacked, it can be for a multitude of reasons:
Self esteem issues
We don't have a true why
Too overwhelming of a goal
You're tired
Your goal is too big / too small
FEAR
How do we get out of this rut then? If one is already unmotivated, what is the solution to finding that motivation we once had before? Honestly, it is not as hard as one might think. In my opinion a lot of us don't make changes based on the factor of fear. #Fear of the unknown, fear of what could happen, fear of what others might think. When it comes to motivation though, the fear has to be eliminated. We have to allow ourselves the ability to change our current habits if we are hoping to change the outcome of our future.
If you're struggling with motivation I challenge you to implement these tools below.
Helpful ways to spark motivation again, and thrive in the life you're ready to live:
Create a goal / be specific: Get detailed about what you're looking to accomplish. Include emotions, and put a deadline on it. This alone ups your chances of success by 90%.
Be confident: Rock that thing you want to do, feel it in your soul.
Get excited: If you're not excited about something... well what's the point then?
Tell someone: Friend, spouse, online group who cares. Just tell someone, and really feel the emotions go through you as you do it.
Start small: Don't try to take on the world. Pick one goal, focus on that, let it be your baby.
Stick with it: MY BIGGEST one to work on. Remember time is a virtue, be patient / trust what's coming.
Read about it: Find articles, learn stuff about what you're doing, fuel your brain with thoughts about what you want to accomplish.
Screw the negative doubts: Sorry, but don't be a Debbie downer to your own self. Unless you want to attract negative vibes, stop doubting yourself.
Rewards: Everyone likes to be acknowledged for success, so celebrate small wins along the way.
Keep accountability: Create a check list for yourself that guides you to the bigger goal.
Make your goal challenging: Be inspired. If it's too easy what's the point?
At the end of the day you are truly in control of your motivation. These tips are foundations to help get you out of a rut that you might be in. So if you're ready to take on the world, accomplish the goals you had set, and live your best life give them a whirl.
It might not feel good at first, but the biggest take away from this is to be patient.
