Essential oils, something that is on the rise as of lately. Whether you use them, or know someone, it seems as though these little drops are making a big splash into people's lives. An essential oil is basically the compound extracted from a plant.
I remember a year ago, a friend of mine introduced me to them. At first, I thought it was the usual MLM thing. (You know sign up for a discount, and earn money off those sales.. blah blah blah). She came over, and showed me two oils that I had heard about yet never had tried. (Lavender and Breathe). Since she wasn't pushy I decided to give them a go myself. To me, it was worth seeing what all the "hype" was about.
We can safely say my world was changed LOL. Not only was I blown away, I signed up with a basic starter kit from Doterra to start incorporating them into my life. My goal over the last year has been more of a natural approach when it comes to illness / overall well being. The less medicine, or doctor visits the better. Now while I am NO guru with oils I want to share my top reasons you should give them a try / what I have learned from using them.
Key things about oils / my two cents:
All natural.
Promotes more of a holistic approach to healing.
Helps create better mood.
Great immune booster.
Helps with skin irritations / common illnesses
Can be used in a diffuser, topically, or ingested.
Can be used to clean your house without leaving toxins behind.
Aromatherapy with an oil can help reduce stress, promote sleep, etc.
Lemon oil in your water is AMAZING (1 drop x 20-24 oz).
Not ALL oils are the same quality (do your research).
1 drop goes a LONG way. Dilute them a bit to avoid irritation.
Make a roller bottle for your kid's teacher and you just made a BFF.
You'll pick a favorite, and feel bad because you'll want to try them all.
Better alternative than candles.. sorry bath and body works.
While I am no guru with these things, I can safely say there have been plenty of positives from incorporating them into my life. DigestZen has helped tremendously with bloating I get from time to time. Peppermint saves my sinus headaches, and leaves me able to function in the day. Eucalyptus makes my house smell amazing. I could go on and on, however I think you get the point. What blows my mind is how doctors are even on board now with using them as part of their treatment plans in certain situations.
My biggest takeaway would be, do your research. If using oils has been something you've tinkered with idea wise just TRY IT. You'll find one that you love, and honestly if you didn't love them I promise a friend would gladly take them off your hand LOL. These have been a game changer for me, and hopefully for some of you my two cents is the nudge that you might have been needing.
