The Getaway You NEED. What These Stays Are Like.

Me: Hey Siri, take me off the grid.

Siri: I found a getaway in Nashville, would you like to book it?

Me: ABSOLUTELY

I came across Getawayhouse from social media one day when planning a random trip up North to an alpaca farm. Not really knowing what these were, I decided why not. I love the tiny home feel, and honestly from the hype on IG it looked like an amazing stay. That was one week ago, and I just did the Nashville location while booking a third destination for mid April. Can we say I am HOOKED? With that, I want to breakdown what this much needed escape is like and just how amazing it is regardless of location.

Nestled in the Dale Hollow area this little cabin in the woods is roughly 200 square feet max, and while this is my second time booking I can tell you each cabin is essentially identical. Simply prop this little guy in a new location and that's mostly the difference. Each cabin has a cute little picnic table + fire pit area outside and is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the real world. Perhaps that was my biggest appeal to booking this, an escape from the everyday grind we are all accustomed to. With about 18 locations (a good chunk being more on the East coast) you will find these outside of major cities. From Nashville this one is right at 2 hours, and while the trees are bare due to Winter ending I can only imagine the aesthetics come Fall! The best part is that it is affordable. I am sure location/time of week and year play into the pricing, but from what I saw most are ranging $99-$249 x night. Regardless worth the price easily.

Once booked check in is as simple as can be for being hands off. On the day of your stay the lovely staff sends a text letting you know come 2:30 you will be told the name of your cabin and a map for navigation. I highly recommend saving the map as the areas don't have great cell service. Remember the goal is to disconnect! Check in is at 3 pm, and check out is at 11 am the next morning. With a keyless entry to your recharge excursion, it is as smooth as ever! On this particular stay I was hosted in Jinxie which allowed lovely sunrise views, and as you can see on the map you aren't squished on top of one another. Truthfully, I didn't hear another soul even though there were others booked by me. What I loved most about this location is that there are two nature paths which made for a lovely walk in the forest without having to leave the campground.

The best part is how amazing the staff is! Each stay has a welcome note, and additional resources of info/pricing for s'mores or fire necessities if you'd like to utilize those. While each cabin has basic amenities (Flat top stove, fridge, sink, dishes, utensils) I highly recommend hitting the grocery store before arriving. For the Nashville location the closest store is Walmart about 40 minutes away. Outside of that logistic you have a cute little table area to eat, plus you can take your meals outside which gives ample space. Now let's get to the good stuff, the rest of the setup!

I had read how these stays not only allow you to disconnect, but also get restful sleep and relax. Truthfully when it comes to beds and sleep I am a bit high maintenance. More so, I like things to be comfy. This did NOT disappoint. The queen size bed, pillows, giant window to look out of as the sun sets...OOF. Also each is equip with AC/Heat making the temperature in your control. & I will 10/10 vouch BEST SLEEP EVER. The windows also allow you to pull down the covering if you'd like to have that closed at night. For me I leave it open as it is really amazing to sleep seeing the outlines of the trees and with a light rain last night hearing the sound of the rain hitting the window put me to bed quicker than ever. It is also nice that each cabin is cleaner than clean. Fresh sheets, towels, and if you need anything extra the staff is just a message away! In fact, during my first stay due to all the mud/melted snow they brought me extra towels to help clean up.

The other key if not most important part of a good stay is the shower set up. Now EVERY TIME I have stayed in a "camp" set up, the water pressure/shower scene blows. Guys, when I say this sucker got hot...it got HOT. Bless the owners because the towels, shower gels, real shower with a door, and HOT WATER the whole time!? Maybe that is also why I was able to sleep so peacefully. Minus the aesthetics, the other neat thing is that there are books tucked away for reading and a total zen vibe. While I brought my own book, I couldn't help but flip through the one titled Wanderlust. The entire set up from start to finish is literally wonderful. Now I will say while it might be hard to shut off from the world, I am realizing it is so needed. There is minimal service here, (they do have an emergency phone if needed) and NO WIFI. For some, myself included this can be hard at first...but it was actually more enjoyable than I bargained for. To not be able to check emails, social media, many texts it allowed me to ground myself. & if you are truly tempted just know they have a cell phone lock box too.

I spent my evening exploring the nature path nearby, hearing the sounds of birds chirping, trees bristling, rain falling, and then a few hours cozied up right by this window seal with my book at hand. The evening came quick with sunset peeking through the branches, and the birds + sunrise peeking through the window in the AM. This experience is everything, and clearly I loved it as I am now 2 stays down in about 2 weeks. There is no doubt in my mind that any location is amazing, and I am now making this a monthly must do. If you've been on the fence about taking some time to disconnect then take this as your sign. & if you're wanting a little more reason to do it here's a discount as well. I cannot wait to see all the other locations, and this next stay of mine will be tucked away overlooking the mountains. But until then, getaway and getaway often.
